BYD's Li Yunfei Responds to Intensive Inspections of Brazilian Factory Contractor: 'Where There's a Will to Accuse, There's a Way'
On December 26th, Li Yunfei, General Manager of Brand and Public Relations at BYD Group, posted a statement saying: 'Where there's a will to accuse, there's a way! In the matter of smearing Chinese brands, smearing China, and attempting to undermine Sino-Brazilian friendship, I have seen how foreign forces maliciously associate and deliberately smear, and how some domestic self-media collude. I believe everyone's eyes are bright and discerning!'
Background of the incident:
One of the construction contractors for BYD's Brazilian factory, Kingsmith Group's Brazilian branch, stated that they have recently been subjected to frequent and intensive inspections by local labor departments in Brazil. Due to cultural differences, the leading questions and language translation misunderstandings have led to many inaccuracies in the labor department's press releases, especially the expressions that Kingsmith's employees were 'enslaved' and 'rescued,' which are completely inconsistent with the facts. Our employees hope to stand up and tell the truth and are willing to accept any media interviews and inquiries.
